How does wet underfloor heating work?

Wet underfloor kits are heating systems that heat a room from the bottom up through a pipe network. Also known as water underfloor heating because they use water to disperse heat, wet underfloor heating kits include a manifold that connects the pipes to a heat source, such as a boiler, heat pump, or solar thermal energy. The heat source heats the water and circulates it throughout the underfloor pipes, heating the room above.

Is water underfloor heating suitable for you?

Typically, wet underfloor heating kits are located underneath stone or tiled floors. It is also possible, however, to install them underneath carpeted floors, but the tog rating must not exceed 2.5 as it will restrict heat distribution. Wet underfloor kits are usually fitted in new builds or refurbishments; however, you can retrofit one into your existing home if you have the correct flooring and sub-flooring type.
